Background
Ebenezer Church Machen come together to help one another - as individuals and as a church - to grow in our Christian faith and to share this with other people. We seek to:
- enjoy being in God’s presence and worshipping Him together;
- share teaching from the Bible and personal stories of the amazing things Jesus has done;
- to encourage one another as we try and live out Jesus’ teaching
and to show and tell other people who Jesus is.
About the Role

Ebenezer Church Machen - Church Missionary Worker - role outline
Based in Ebenezer Church Machen, you will undertake a missionary worker role, supporting members of the church and our work in the local community.
A committed, Bible believing Christian, you will facilitate and develop our church activities both locally and further afield in line with the key responsibilities given below. You will be mentoring Christians as they grow in their relationship with God and equipping them to live their lives according to the principles of Jesus. You will also support and help with outreach activity of the church in order to encourage new membership of the church and disciples of Jesus.
Ebenezer Church Machen Missionary Worker will not receive a salary from Ebenezer Church Machen. Our missionary worker will be self-funded through churches, friends and family that send and support them.
Key Responsibilities:
To provide spiritual leadership, direction and support across the following core activities:
- Evangelism – spreading the good news of Jesus Christ (Gospel);
- Teaching – spiritual disciplines (Bible study, prayer, intercession, worship) to individuals, and small groups;
- Outreach – building and cultivating relationships within our communities, partnering with charities, social aid programmes and the work of other local churches;
- Projects – initiate projects that further the missionary work and outlook of Ebenezer Church Machen locally, nationally and internationally;
- Mentoring - provide spiritual guidance and leadership to individuals, and small groups;
- Practical tasks – as a community, we undertake operational and service tasks to contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the church (Gardening, Cleaning, Administration etc.);
- Women’s ministry – continuing the development of the ministry for women in the church and the local community;
- Children and young peoples’ ministry – working with other church members to develop a sustainable and effective outward-focused children and young persons’ ministry;
- Mission – helping the church to appreciate it’s role in the international missionary contexts and the needs of the wider church internationally;
- Innovation and creativity – as the role evolves, you will work to develop new ideas to support members of the church and also to reach those in the local community;
